 : Dissolution, 1784

Dissolution, 1784

King George III wields the thunderbolt of Dissolution, striking Charles James Fox (Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs), Edmund Burke (Paymaster of the Forces) and Frederick, Lord North (Secretary of State for the Home Department) into the flames below. He is spurred on by William Pitt and his loyal opposition ministers. The wheels bear the motto Mon Droit - My right'; the King is using his royal prerogative to dissolve Parliament. 1784 marked the turning of public opinion in favour of the King, and a long period of increased royal power
