An illustration celebrating King George III's golden jubilee, showing France surrendering to Britain. The text at the bottom is from the first verse of the national anthem. The nationwide public celebrations of the King's 50 year reign in 1810 were the first of their kind. George III had become a beloved figure and a patriotic symbol during the wars with France. 30, 000 people travelled to Windsor to attend his funeral when he died in 1812
