God Save the King, c1810
An illustration celebrating King George III's golden jubilee, showing the King at prayers in his chapel. The text at the bottom is part of a verse of the national anthem. The nationwide public celebrations of the King's 50 year reign in 1810 were the first of their kind. George III had become a beloved figure and a patriotic symbol during the wars with France. 30, 000 people travelled to Windsor to attend his funeral when he died in 1812
