John Bull Humbugg'd alias Both Ear'd, 1794
King George III stands between Charles James Fox and Prime Minister William Pitt, Both Ear'd, or bothered, by conflicting reports on the war with France. Pitt claims victories while Fox, who wears a Liberty bonnet, reports defeats. The war in Flanders was going badly for Britain; in June the French won the decisive Battle of Fleurus, marking a long period of military superiority
