Kew Palace, 19th century

Built as a private house in 1631, Kew Palace was used by the Royal Family between 1729 and 1818. In turn, with the series of other royal buildings that once stood nearby, it served as a lodging for servants, as a schoolroom for three generations of royal children, as King George III's retreat during his bouts of madness and as a home for the King, Queen Charlotte and their family
