The King's Library, Buckingham House
The King's Octagonal Library was constructed in 1766-7 to house a collection of books purchased by King George III from the British Council in Venice, Joseph Smith. This illustration was published in W H Pyne's The History of the Royal Residences, which appeared in three volumes in 1819, depicting the royal palaces as they appeared in the reign of King George III (1760-1820)
