The Kitchen, St James's Palace
This kitchen, probably designed by Sir John Vanbrugh, was built in 1717-19 for the Prince and Princess of Wales, the future King George II and Queen Caroline. It still survives today. This illustration was published in W H Pyne's The History of the Royal Residences, which appeared in three volumes in 1819, depicting the royal palaces as they appeared in the reign of King George III (1760-1820)
