A caricature of William Schaw Cathcart, 1st Earl Cathcart (1755-1843). William Cathcart was a Scottish soldier and diplomatist. He was Vice Admiral of Scotland (1795), Privy Councillor (1798), and Colonel of the 2nd Life Guards (1797). One of his offices held the title of Gold Stick, providing inspiration for this caricature by Gillray
