An Old English Gentleman pester'd by Servants wanting Places
King George III inspects an assembled group of politicians, who beg to be let back into office. On the left are the exiled members of the Grenville Ministry, recently sacked by the King. On the right stands William Cavendish-Bentinck, Duke of Portland (Prime Minister). After the dismissal of the Grenville Ministry, the Duke of Portland had limited success with a weak administration. The years 1807-12 were a period of great political instability, as George III slipped further into mentall ill health and was unable to conduct government business
