Princess Charlotte's mittens, c1799
Princess Charlotte's mittens. A pair of children's mittens worked in red floss silks with floral borders, the cuffs lined with pink silk, the tops with a blue flower. The mittens are mounted on a velvet covered board with an ink inscription: These Mittens belonged to Princess Charlotte [1796-1817], only child of George IV and Queen Caroline. She was born Jan 1796, m Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg 1816, died at Claremont Nov 1817
