The Prodigal Son, 1809
Frederick, Duke of York kneels in disgrace before his father King George III. His military insignia lies scattered and broken on the ground. The King was humiliated upon receiving news of his favourite son's alleged corruption and adultery in 1809. Frederick resigned, but was later reappointed Commander-in-Chief in 1811
