Prospero on the Enchanted Island, 1798

King George III as Prospero, defending Albion (England) from Caliban in Paris. He tramples the French flag as British ships tow the captured French ships in the background. This print was produced at the time of receiving news of Admiral Nelson's victory at the Battle of the Nile. There was great national rejoicing and many patriotic prints were created celebrating the victory
