Queen Mary, c1927-40

Queen Mary (1867-1953). The Queen wears a blue silk dress over a pale grey bodice and holds a fan in her right hand. Queen Mary was known for her highly decorative style and love of copious jewels and in this portrait she wears her Lovers Knot tiara, earrings and choker, pearl necklaces, bracelets, and the Star of the Garter. An armchair and green Savres vase can be seen in the background
