The South Front, Kensington Palace

This view of Kensington Palace from the south east shows the King's Gallery range constructed for King William III in 1695 by Sir Christopher Wren. Princess Victoria (the future Queen Victoria) was born at Kensington Palace in the year this view was first published. This illustration was published in W H Pyne's The History of the Royal Residences, which appeared in three volumes in 1819, depicting the royal palaces as they appeared in the reign of King George III (1760-1820)
