Gillray references Lord Shelburne, who said: The sun of Great Britain will set whenever she acknowledges the independence of America'. Fox is depicted wearing Spanish leather boots and carrying a French cock, accusing him of traitorous foreign allegiances. He has cast aside the crown and the Magna Carta in his pursuit of ambition
