Miles M.28 Mk.II HM583 (a.k.a. Mercury 2)
The Miles M.28 was a light communications aircraft designed by George Miles and built in small quantities. Intended for the Royal Air Force for training and communications, the M.28 didnot receive a prodution contract and only six aircraft were built between 1941 and 1946. The M.28 was similar to the later M.38 Messenger but had a retractable undercarriage. HM583 was first flown in 1942 under the B-class registration U-0237 and was used exclusively by Miles Aircraft Ltd. as a company hack until released for sale post-war. Initially registered in the UK as G-AJVX, she was flown to Perth in Western Austrlaia, over 64 days, from November 1950 to 17 January 1951 and given the Australian registration VH-BBK
