Montesquieu, Charles-Louis de Secondat, baron de la Brede et de (1689-1755). French erudite philosopher and writer. Frontispiece of the first volume of De l'esprit des Loix (The Spirit of the Laws) in an edition, revised and enlarged by the author. Published in Amsterdam and Leipzig by Arkstee and Merkus, 1764.
