R Caracciola and B Rosmeyer at AVUS
R Caracciola (No. 35) and B Rosmeyer (No. 31) taking the 43 degree banking of the North Curve at AVUS (Automobil-Verkehrs- und sbungsstraae) on the aerodynamic cars built by Mercedes-Benz and Auto-Union for the 1937 races on this track. Both cars had engines of circa 6-litres capacity giving more than 500 bhp and capable of over 250 mph. Rosemeyer averaged 172.73 for one lap of the circuit
