Tazio Nuvolari, probably the finest driver seen in this period, on a D Type Auto-Union with 3-litre, twelve cylinder, 450 hp rear mounted engine. this combination of car and driver won the Italian and Donington Park Grands Prix in 1938 at average speeds of 96.7 mph and 80.49 mph for 260 and 250 miles respectively
