Weltenburg on the Danube, Bavaria: Benedictine monastery. Ceiling fresco triumphant church by C. D. Asam, signed with the date 1721. Founding date presumably around 600, the Holy Bonifaz converted Weltenburg into a Benedictine monastery which existed until 1803. 1842 as priorate of King Ludwig I. renewed, since 1913 again Benedictine monastery. The abbey- and since 1812 also parish church is one of the greatest jewels of the Bavarian high-Baroque. Photograph
