"The Karbyshev memorial in Mauthausen. Dimitri M. Karbyshev was a Soviet Army General; wanted to persuade to join the Vlasov troops and fight against the Red Army. After the "Muhlviertler rabbit hunt" (2.2.1945) Karbyshev was with ca. 200 other Soviet prisoners forced on personal order of the camp commandant Ziereis, standing naked nearly three days at the so-called Wailing Wall in severe frost. Karbyshev was watered at intervals of about three hours with water until he had frozen to an ice block.
