Front page of the Poor Man's Guardian
The front page of the Poor Man's Guardian, Saturday March 31, 1832 issue - a penny weekly newspaper published in London, England by Henry Hetherington from July 1831 to December 1835 (and then briefly revived in 1847). The paper was a successor to his earlier (1830-31) penny daily Penny Papers for the People, as an outright challenge to authority. The paper represented a fight against the consequences of the Six Acts of 1819 (and the requirement for cheap papers to bear a Government stamp'), imposed by the Tories
