The Marquess of Bath with Marquis, the Lion - Longleat House
Henry Frederick Thynne, 6th Marquess of Bath (1905-1992) with Marquis, the Lion at Longleat House. The 6th Marquess developed the safari park at Longleat and opened the house to the public in 1949. The safari park opened in 1966 and nine weeks later, the first lion cubs were born, one of which had to be hand reared. It is possible that this is the young lion who was hand reared. The Marquess is reading a December 1965 issue of Country Life - probably an old copy
