View of the Anichkov Palace, at the intersection of Nevski Prospekt and the Fontanka River, St Petersburg, Russia. The palace takes its name from the nearby Anichkov Bridge, which can be seen in the foreground, with traffic and pedestrians crossing it. The baroque style building was designed for the Empress Elizabeth of Russia, and completed in 1754. It has also been known as the Beloselsky-Belozersky Palace, the Sergei Palace, and the Dmitry Palace, as a result of changes in ownership and usage
