Execution of Stepan Razin, Russian rebel and pirate
A depiction of the execution of Stepan (Stenka) Timofeyevich Razin (1630 - 1671), a Russian Cossack leader who led a major uprising against the Tsar's authority in Southern Russia. He was also a pirate on the Volga River. He was eventually captured, taken to Moscow, tortured, then executed by quartering alive in Red Square
