Poor Peasants Committee, Soviet Russia
A Committee of the Poor, or Poor Peasants Committee (komitet bednoty, kombed), during the Soviet era in Russia. These committees were introduced in June 1918, designed as a form of self-government for the poor, and were a base of Soviet power in rural areas. Seven peasants sit or stand around a table, discussing a local issue. There is a picture of Lenin on the wall behind them
