Detective Superintendent Alec Spooner of Warwickshire CID, investigating the murder of Charlie Walton in Lower Quinton, Warwickshire. Charles Walton (1870-1945), victim of the so-called Witchcraft Murder, was found dead near a hedgerow on the evening of 14 February 1945, killed with his own walking stick and agricultural tools (a pitchfork and a slash hook). The case is the oldest unsolved murder in Warwickshire Constabulary records
