Aug. 08, 1965 - 12-Year Old Girl Breaks World Swimming Record - 12-Year Old South African Swimmer, Karen muir, yesterday became the fix youngest-ever world record breaker - when she broks the women's 110-yard backstroke world record, at Blackpool. Her time of 68.7 secs was set up in a heat of the girls, 110-yard backstoke, at the National Swimming Championships.
