14th December 1971: 60 Years Ago Roald Amundse

Dec. 12, 1971 - 14th December 1971: 60 Years Ago Roald Amundse Reached The South Pole: The first man to reach the South Pole was the Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen-60 years ago! Amundsen had already made a name for himself when he crossed to North-West Passage in 1903-1906. He arrived at the pole 53 days before the English expedition led by Robert F. Scott who loat his life in a blizzard on the way back. Photo shows. They made it-the Norwegian flag is hoisted, and the historic moment is recorded on film
