Nov. 11, 1953 - The Wilds Of Darkest Africa Filmed In Elstree Studios:Under a galvanised iron roof at Elstree Studios yesterday 140 feet of Africa's mighty Zambesi River roared and swirled while two Hollywood stars fought to keep their cance afloat. No one knows how many thousands of years it took the real Zambesi to develops, but Elstree technicians did the job in seven days for new film, Duel In The Jungle starring Jeanne Crain And Dana Andrews. The result is an ugly stretch of muddy water bordered on one side by tangled jungle with two 16 ft. electric paddles at one end of the 150 ft. long tank to keep the water racing and submerged hoses boil it up into dangerous cross currents. The water was heated to 70 degree in case either of the stars should fall in.
