Dec. 16 Kirk Douglas will become 60 on December 9th 1976 On December 9th 1976, Hollywood star Kirk Douglas (seen here with his wife Anne) will become 60 years old. The actor was born in New York state as the son of Russian immigrants. After studies at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, he came out on Broadway in 1941, but then had to join tha Navy during the war. In 1946 Kirk Douglas played his first role in a movie picture called The Strange Love of Marty Ivers, with Barbara Stanwyck. He then became a busy film actor and films like Ace in the Hole, The Bad and the Beautiful, Last Train from Gun Hill, Spartacus and Town without Pity made him one of America most popular performers
