Peter Van Eyck, a member of an East German Underground Movement, hears he is to be delivered to the Soviets in exchange for the kidnapped G.I. Immediately he telephones the Provost Marshal and tells him that the beautiful Agent, Hoffy, is really working for the Russians. Gregory Peck Stars In New American Film Made In Berlin: All exterior shots for the new 20th Century Fox film, Night People have been made in the streets of Berlin and the interiors will be shot later in the studios in Hollywood. The story of the film is highly topical based on the struggle between East and West Germany and is directed by Nunnally Johnson. A young G.I. (Ted Avery), is engaged to a German girl (Marianne Koch). Returning to barracks one night in the Western Zone a stranger asks him for a light and as the G.I. gives it, he is knocked out and smuggled away into the Eastern Zone in a car. The Provost Marshal, Lt. Col. Van Dyke (Gregory Pack) contacts the Soviet Military Government who claim ignorance of the incident. The G.I.'s father, (Broderick Crawford), a wealthy American business man with influence in political circles, flies to Berlin and failing to get satisfaction through official channel contacts a member of the Underground in the Soviet sector (Anita Bjoerk) who says the G.I. will be released if a man and woman who have scaped from the Eastern zone are returned. When this man, a former member of the East Zone Underground, hears of this he telephone Col. Van Dyke and tells him that Hoffy (the name of Anita Bjoerk in the film) is a counter spy and is really working for the Russians. Unfortunately Van Dyke has fallen in love with the beautiful Hoffy. By a clever ruse he gets the G.I. back without handing over the two Germans to the Soviets. The main scenes of the film were made on Kurfuerstendam at the zonal Border of Berlin
