Jul. 07, 1959 - She acts as decoy for a killer police hunt for policeman's murderer.: Police throughout the country are searching for the gunman who shot and killed Det. Sgt. Ray Purdy - at 105 Onslow Square, London - on Monday evening. Det. Sgt. Purdy and a colleague were waiting beside the telephone with blonde actress Joan Schiffman, (known on TV and as a model under the name of Joan O'Hara) at her South Kensington Flat. They were waiting for a telephone call from a man who is thought to have been blackmailing her. Post Office officials traced the call when it came and the two detectives raced to a call box at Onslow Square and arrested a man. He pulled a gun and murdered. Det. Sgt. Purdy. A description of the wanted man has been issued he is thought to be a Canadian. Photo shows Mrs. Joan Schiffman (Joan O'Hara) who acted as a decoy for the killer. Police are now guaring her until the murderer is traced
