1968 - Julie Christine the new sort of film star: Julie Christie now 23 years of age, has already had an impressive acting career. She has been in several television series, two film comedies Crooks Anonymous and The Fast Lady and her most successful yet, Billy Liar. Julie, daughter of a tea planter, was born in India, educated at an English boarding school and had her stage training at the Central School of Speech and Drama. Julie has always wanted to be an actress and although she has jumped to stardom so quickly, she still wants to learn her job the hard way and so she went back to repertory work playing a different part in a different play every week.
