Aug. 08, 1968 - Tommy Steele, former pop idol and now an international star acclaimed as Britain's brightest name of the future for his work in Half a Sixpence, yesterday returned to Bermondsey, to unveil plaque on a 8, 000 block of flats being built for old folk by the South London Mission, just round the corner from his old home in Spa Road.
