Dec. 12, 1965 - Fans Riot At Pop Stars Carol Concert: Thousands of screaming teenagers stormed barriers in Trafalger square last night, as pop stars presented a Christmas carol concert. The concert, in aid of Oxfam was just beginning when the crowd surged forward to a stage on which more than 20 stars were singing. They pressed against temporary barriers around the stage. Several girls feinted. Then television actor Patrick Wymark stepped forward and appealed: Please move back-people are getting hurt'. Wymark warned that the concert would be cancelled unless the crowd moved back. Police ordered spotlights to be switched off and told everyone to leave the stage until order was restored. The stars, including the Hallier, Kinks and the Honeycombs, George Fame, Marriane Faithfull and Dodie West, continued the concert 15 minutes later.
