1970 - American Radio and TV Women Feast in Medieval Setting. Appropriately for St. George's Day, 200 members of the Conference of American Women in Radio and Television were entertained to lunch in the Barons Hall at Penshurst Place, near Tonbridge, Kent, England's oldest and most important domestic Great Hall. Their host was Viscount De L'isle, VC, former Governor General of Australia, whose home it is. the hall, built in 1341, has been the feasting place of kings - Edward IV, Henry VIII and James I - and commoners for 600 years.
