Jan. 16, 1970 - January 16th 1970 Albert Finney, aged 33 British actor plays Ebenezer Scrooge in screen musical Scrooge by Denter Films and replaces Rex Harrison, who withdrew because of overwork and fatigue Albert Finney who rocketed to fame in the film Tom Jones is playing the part of 70 year old Scrooge at Shepperton Studios, a £2 million epic. It takes two hours to make him up and after 12 hours filming another hour to remove make up. He said on leaving the set yesterday Scrooge I am dead. The part was first offered to Richard Harris but owing to another film dropped out. Rex Harrison dropped out because of overwork and fatigue.
