1975 - New name in film wins biggest starring role in recent British films: It was announced today at the reception at Pinewood Studios hosted by Naim Attallah and John Asprey, directors of Paradine Co-Productions Limited, that 22 year old Irish born actress and singer Gemma Craven has won the most coveted role in British films for many a long year. She has been chosen to play the starring role in the new 2 million pound British musical The Story of Cinderella due to start shooting on June 2. Gemma was chosen after a year long search, so less than eighty five interviews with other young aspirants. Gemma will be making her film debut acting with a distinguished cast including Edith Evans, Margaret Lockwood and Christopher Gable. The Story of Cinderella, one of the years, is the original romantic love story and in no way resembles pantomimes which have been built around it over the last sixty years.
