Mar. 03, 1976 - Elaine Strich Is The First American To Open The Chelsea Antiques Fair: Opening the 48th Chelsea Antiques Fair, Elaine Strich amused the crowd by saying Only last night an eight year old friend of mine said to me the reason I was asked to open and the fair is because I am Old.... and valuable. Elaine said she is very interested in antiques because she is trying to replace a collection that was stolen from her home when she was living in America.
