US 3rd Air Force honoured for flood rescue work

Feb. 26 Britain Honours U.S. Flood Heroes Five members of the United States 3rd Air Force were recently honoured by Britain for their parts in rescue work in last winter's serious floods in Britain. Picture shows:- Britain's Home Secretary, Sir David Maxwell Fyfe, representing the Queen, shakes hands with Staff Sergeant J. Brown of Tennessee after presenting him with Home Office, London. Others (left to right) are: Technical Sergeant Germaine of New York (also the Queen's commendation for brave conduct); Airman First Class Jake Smith of Tennessee (British Empire Medal); Staff Sergeant Kilpatrick of Alabama (George Medal, Britain's highest award for bravery off the field of battle) and Major Ferkinson of Hampton and Norfolk, Virginia (Honorary Member of the Order of the British Empire)
