Abbie Hoffman, American social activist
Abbot Howard Abbie Hoffman (November 30, 1936 - April 12, 1989) was an American social activist, co-founded the Youth International Party (Yippies). Arrested, tried for conspiracy, inciting to riot as a result of his role in protests that led to violent confrontations with police during 1968 Democratic National Convention. He died after swallowing 150 phenobarbital tablets and alcohol. Diagnosed with bipolar disorder 1980
