1953 - Nine Dead in Tube Disaster: Nine people were known today to have died in the Central Line tube disaster at Stratford last night the worst in London's Underground history. It was the second coach of the Ealing Broadway-Epping train wich took the brunt of the crash. The train ran into the rear of another train travelling from Greenford to Hainault.
