Feb. 02, 1955 - Girl sees lions kill her fiancee, Lion tamer at Northarts Circus; twenty three years old Dutch born Annie Spek look on helplessly yesterday as five lions attacked and killed her fiancee - Lion Tamer Rene Roger Ruellot who was training them at the headquarters of the Roberts Brothers circus at Polsbrook, near Peterborough, Northants. It appears that one of the lions pawed him and drew blood and the other lions and lionesses smelling the blood sprang together. Ruellot was dead when he was dragged clear from the struggling lions.
