Jun. 06, 1956 - Workmen Save Train After Bridge Collapse Prevention Of A Disaster At Kew: Two Ministry of Works electricians raced along the track and stopped an approaching district line train - at Kew - after a lorry had crashed into the supports of the Railway Bridge. One of the bridge pillars was brought down and another badly damaged, the stopping of the train prevented an almost certain disaster. Photo Shows The side of the bridge is strewn across the road - after the accident at Kew today
