Nov. 11, 1957 - Forty Three killed in flying boat crash Forty three people lost their lives when a Solent Flying Boat crashed into a hillside at Chessell, near Calbourne on the Isle of Wight last last night. By dawn 26 bodies had been recovered. Fifteen survivors are now in hospital at Newport I.O.W.
