Aug. 08, 1956 - Funeral of Belgian Mine Disaster Victims, Many miners still trapped at Maroinelle Pit: Large crowds paid homage at Cherleroi yesterday at the funeral of six of the Marcinelle Mine disaster victims. So far eleven bodies have been brought to the surface and the bodies of a further lid have been found and there are still 146 miners to be accounted for. The bodies of those found were at 2, 750 fr. and most of the rest of the men were trapped at a lower level. Photo shows general view during the funeral at Charleroi. The service was conducted by the Bishop of Tournai - MGR. Himmer
