Accidents - Disasters - Fires - Floods - Tragedies

May 05, 1958 - Thirty five die in day trip plane disaster in Lancashire. Thirty five happy men, looking forward to a day out, died as they joked yesterday when their airliner crashed in fog into Lancashire's TV Mountain, winter Hill, near Bolton. The Plane, a Silver City Airways Wayfarer, crashed just below the peak of the hill. Seven survived the crash, including the crew of the three. The passengers, motor traders from the Isle of Man, were on their way to spend the day as the guests of a battery factory in Manchester. Photo shows Police equipped with walkie talkie apparatus remove one of the victim from the wrecked airliner yesterday
