Mar. 03, 1959 - Rescue Teams Fight in Vain as Pothole Victim Dies.: Neil Moss the 20 year old undergraduate died this morning after having been trapped since Sunday afternoon in a crevice 1, 000 ft. below the earth in Peak Cavern, Castleton, Derbyshire. Experts and helpers from many parts struggled to release him.F/Lieut. John Carter a young RA.F. doctor spent 14 hours in the caverns slimy tunnels yesterday - and went down again today. Another of the helpers was 18 year old June Bailey of Manchester - who answered the call for the samallest potholer in the North'. She spent six and a half hours trying to search the trapped man. Photo shows Composite - showing Left- Ron Peters who managed to tie a rope to the trapped man and he was raised about 18 inches before being trapped again. Bottom Right - is F/Lieut.
