May 05, 1959 - 28 Killed in Spanish air crash: A Barcelona Madrid, transport plane with 25 passengers and three crew members crashed near Cuenca. The plane was discovered near Valdemeca, a small village, 20 miles East of Cuenca and 100 miles Southwest of Madrid. All on board were killed. Among the victims were Joaquin Blume, the gymnastic European champion and his wife. Photo Shows The wreck of the plane. One can notice the frosted wings
